Stonewall Farm pigs are raised on the pasture until they are about 6-8 months old weigh about 250-325 pounds. They enjoy a good life, where they root around and eat hay and garden extras everyday. At processing time, we drop them off at Dewig Meats in Haubstadt, IN (100 Maple Street). This is where you will go to pick up your meat after processing.
We now offer you the option to purchase a whole or half hog. In all, you will save around 20% over purchasing all these cuts individually. A whole hog, once processed, amounts to 160 pounds of finished meat, and a half hog is 80 pounds. Conveniently, the freezer of most refrigerator/freezer combos will accommodate a half hog. Meat from a typical half hog will consist of the following cuts:
- 1 lb tenderloin
- 12-14 lbs pork chops
- 1-2 packages spare ribs
- 3 shoulder roast or steaks
- 2 hocks/shanks
- 6-10 lbs ground pork and/or sausage
- 1 ham (15-20 lbs)
- 8-10 lbs bacon
- 4 lbs lard
- extra parts, including feet, neckbones, jowl, liver
